TransformNation will be accepting entries for its Short Film Competition as of November 10, 2012. All Entries that are submitted and postmarked by January 30, 2013, will be included in the competition.

The competition invites students in Peel and beyond, between the ages of 10 to 25 years, to produce short films (max. 5 min) on how we can eradicate childhood obesity. Competitors can be in groups up to three people.

The aim of the competition is to raise awareness that young people can make a decision to be more responsible around making healthier life style choices. The competition gives students the opportunity to tackle Childhood Obesity from a cinematic point of view, and offers a platform for the presentation of their work, as part of the “Healthy Body, Healthy Mind” (film festival). The overall objective is to present the 5 winning movies on an online platform / via social media, Mississauga News and Rogers T.V., thus giving participants and fans of the competition the opportunity to see all submissions.

This will allow youths to share their thoughts, ideas and creative approaches with their peers using their own language, and tackle the issue of childhood obesity. Youth Judges will narrow the field of entries to the top 10 and those will be posted on Mississauga News, Rogers T.V. and You Tube, where public voting will determine the top 5. The local winners and the selection of winning movies will present at different venues across the city, appear on Rogers T.V., attend the National Summit in Vancouver B.C. May 1-4, 2013 and a trip to Washington D.C.
