The Region of Peel is launching its curbside battery collection of batteries with two curbside collections of single-use household batteries in 2016. The collections will be:

  • Spring: March 14-25, and
  • Fall: November 7-18.

Other batteries can be dropped at Household Hazardous Waste Depots at Peel’s six Community Recycling Centres (CRCs).

The Region will be mailing battery collection bags to residents in late February for early March.  From March 14-25, residents can place their single-use household batteries in the bag, seal it, place the bag on TOP of their closed green organics cart for their collection day during their recycling week.   Additional battery bags can be picked up at the Region’s CRCs and Access Peel. Residents can also put batteries in other clear resealable bags.

Residents can:

  • set out single-use household batteries, such as A, AA, AAA, C, D, 9 volt and button cell, and
  • take all other batteries to one of Peel’s six CRCs for free year-round drop-off.

Residents can visit peelregion.ca/waste to check their battery collection date.  If they miss this collection, residents can also drop:
